Date Calculations in Saved Searches

I am currently trying to create a saved search in NetSuite which will include dates for reminders. At present, there is one actual date field, start date, and I want to use this to back calculate other dates which will be used as triggers for actions. For example, 1 week before start date, I would like to set a reminder for a welcome email to be sent out. If I were making the formula in excel which I am trying to make in the saved search it would be "=(start date)-7" this would show a date 7 days before the
