Co-Managers of a Department - Supervisor Field Issues

We have a Tech Support Department in our company that has two managers that "co-manage" the same team of people.  Currently we have the employee's in this department listed under only one of them as the Supervisor on their employee records. However, this limits the use of the "My Team" function when generating saved searches (because the Manager NOT listed as their Supervisor cannot see the records in a saved search when it is set to "My Team"). Also, trying to do any custom automation/scripting based on the Supervisor field as-is is also giving our developer a headache at times
