Inventory Management - Handling multiple types of inventory 'packages' from vendors.
Looking for advice on how to setup our inventory for this use case. I know netsuite has the 'package' and 'unit of measure' records, but I don't think those are the right use case here.
How do you handle inventory purchased from a vendor which is offered in multiple package sizes?
For example, lets say the product is screws. Lets say our vendor has the ability to purchase:
- 1 'individual' screw for $1
- a 'Box' of 100 screws for $80
- or a 'Case' of 1000 screws for $500.
Sometimes we may purchase any of these types of 'packages'. Then we may turn around and sell any given quantity to a customer at the weighted average cost.
