Deploy Project - Access Denied

Using Visual Studio Code and the extension, I am able to upload files to my development account no problem.

When deploying however, all is well and I get success against the checks until 'Begin deployment' where I get:

*** ERROR ***


An unexpected error has occurred.

Details: Access denied


When I use the training account provided by oracle with an administrator role, deployment is successful.

The role I am using on our development account is a custom developer role I have created with all of the privileges I can think of that would be relevant but it's difficult to know.

Any ideas what I'm missing? Again, I can upload files using the extension, so I must be part way there, it's just deployment is failing.
