How to hide a column in a client script?

Hi,

How do you hide a sublist column using a client script? I have tried the example discussed here but I couldn't even get an isDisplay property; it returns undefined.

Although isDisplay property is indicated in the documentation, it isn't available; the same goes for isSortable.

Am I missing something?
