First time Bank Reconciliation

Bank reconciliations have been done manually, outside of NetSuite since implementation in 2018. For 2024, we'd like to begin reconciling in NetSuite. How do we start? Do we just put in a Dec 2023 balance on the Reconcile Acct Statement Page? But then how do we clear all the 2018 - 2023 transactions so they don't continue to show on the reconciliation report.
