How do I add a custom field to the Finance Charge Preference screen?

Several years ago, our consultant added a custom field [Custom ID] to the Finance Charge records; however, he did not add it to the Finance Charge Preference screen to allow us to change the value. Can I update this custom field by script or any other method or must I get the Finance Charge Preference screen changed?
