  • This is a good idea for companies who want to give their sales people that level of autonomy. My main concern would be the possible need to customize the sales person role to allow or disallow this functionality. There are certain restrictions in NS which rely on standard roles. These restrictions could be compromized with…
  • Hi Dana, Assuming you're using subscription categories (Setup>Company>Enable Features, on the CRM subtab under Marketing), go to Setup>Marketing>Marketing Preferences and you will find a checkbox "Unsubscribed to Marketing by Default". Make sure this box in NOT checked.
  • We've experienced similiar issues on clients' accounts. The problem is acknowledged and being addressed by NetSuite. Defect 172462: Quantity on Hand balance on Physical Inventory Worksheet is incorrect.
  • Would units of measure meet your needs? This is available with Advanced Inventory. With Units of Measure, you could buy a roll, then sell it by inches.
  • Althought I haven't tried this directly, I think you could deploy a server side script, to be run periodically, to update the pricing on the assembly items.
  • Hi sevans, Have you tried to adjust the inventory through the Inventory Adjustement, or Inventory Adjustment Worksheet? You might be able to do it using the Inventory Adjustement Worksheet. It could also work through a two step process: 1) Adjust the inventory upwards (make it a count of 1 item), then 2) Adjust the…
  • Try changing: - Systems Notes : Type "is change" Instead use - Systems Notes : Old Value "is not empty" I just tested it and it seems to work (sorry I didn't test the other first)
  • If you'd like are are available now, i'd do an GoToMeeting to show and see. Email me directly.
  • Glad to help. We're having warm weather here in Ottawa. It reached 18, which is better than the snow we got last week :p
  • Here is the search I used which worked. The search you posted was using Systems Notes: "Type is Change". Use "Field is Total" instead Date is within this week Main Line is true System Notes : Field is Total System Notes : Old Value is not empty
  • Hi Wiz, Do a transaction search, using Advanced Search. The criteria is: - Date (if you want to search within a date range) - Systems Notes : Field (you need to drill down to Systems Notes to get this choice), pick "is total" - Systems Notes : Type "is change" - Main line "is true" (so only results only show total, and not…
  • No. Cases and tasks, while similiar, are different. But within cases, you can create and assign tasks.
  • It depends on the customization. Some are different when there are specific to a subsidiary reference or subsidiary unique. This could occur most often when there are scripting customizations. Also, as some forms vary between subsidiaries, you may be required to set up forms based on sudsidiary. At the same time, a custom…
  • Hi sittidach, The introduction of HST has been a poorly thought out tax, to be certain. But enough pontificating. I thought of various options as to how to implement HST for large corporations. I think you are on the right track about creating new tax codes. You will also need to create new GL accounts to track some of the…
  • You can set the General Accounting Preferences to have your Aging Reports use the transaction or the due date. Setup>Accounting>Accounting Preferences Navigate to the General tab and you will find the choice in the General Ledger section.
  • To close the items, you should apply a vendor credit (whether they issue one or not, but use the settlement documentation as support). When the bill was first enered into NS, it created an expense. You can't simply close the bill, as this would overstate the expense. You need to effecively reduce the expense to the actual…
  • Sown, I'm not sure as to the business case to creating more than one AP account. I've seen plenty of problems when companies use multiple AP or AR type accounts. But if you do, NetSuite is "sticky" for AP or AR accounts - it will default to the last chosen. If you're trying to segment your payables based on vendor type,…
  • Hi Steve, To echo Mark, this is not a too uncommon problem. We've seen this, especially when companies have "self-implemented", the business processes were not fully documented to begin with, or the business has changed so much the old process are no longer applicable. The big problem companies face when either switching…
  • Good idea. Put that in as enhancement request as I don't believe that is current NetSuite functionality (unless someone can correct me).
  • Hi Jessica, NetSuite will be able to handle the continuity side of your business with ease, especially with the Advanced Billing Module. As you are just starting to consider this, when implementing it you should probably start with mostly manual process. This gives you the knowledge of the full workflow. Then, once numbers…
  • A sales order is a "non-posting" transaction, as it does not hit the general ledger. So cancelling a sales order has no accounting impact. However you mention placing an authorization on a customer's credit card. For clarification, does this mean you actually process the card? If so there is an accounting impact as actual…
  • Hi Steph, To get the amount of the transaction excluding GST you will have to use advanced search. One of the criteria you need is a filter on Account, and exclude the GST account. Depending on type of transaction, you will likely want to include additional account filters (such as PST and AR if it is an invoice…
  • Pretty close. Rev Rec Template: Question: is the recognition period always for a calendar month, or could the monthly period cross calendar months? If always a calendar month, the method should be "Straight-line, by even periods". If it can cross-over months, it should be "Straight-line, using exact dates". Term source…
  • Sorry Chris, I was just assuming you had the Revenue Recognition module. Do you? You could also adjust the posting period ahead by a period. But doing this, your financial results will look different depending on your reporting settings (not advisable).
  • If the items do not have a revenue recognition issue, don't attach a rev rec schedule. Or attach a different rev rec schedule if the recognition criteria is different. As for scripting, I understand what needs to be done, create the process and document the business case, but I don't actually do the scripting. I give that…
  • Hi Chris, Yes, that is very possible. You need to create a Revenue Recogntion template which offsets the initial recogntion by a period. Then attach that template to the items being invoiced. When the invoice is posted, the revenue recogntion schedule is created. The October invoice would have a Rev Rec schedule which…
  • Not sure if you've been able to change the "Save" button options (make option "Save" or "Save & Print") depending on the form yet or not. It is something we can do.
  • We saw Avalara demonstrated last October. While we don't have direct experience with it, I think it will meet your needs.
  • Hi Jgamble, First off, I'd have to ask why you would ahve 3 AR accounts. Best practice suggests only having one. Having more than one only opens things up for errors.
  • Hi Carrie, Selling online advertising is an interesting situation. The items sold can be set up as different types - there is no right answer. However, based on the scenario you put forth, the best way to set your items up would likley be as inventory items. As inventory items, you will be able to enter the PO and receive…
