No, the Admin role is the role of no permission restrictions, i.e. it has all permissions. You'd need to create a custom System Admin role. Evan

The goal is to run financials (P&L, BS, etc.) in a foreign currency. The use case is what's described in this thread, where in some instances an American multi-national may want to set up a foreign entity (subsidiary) with USD as the base currency, in order to compy with US GAAP. However, for both practical and local…

Yeah, I was wondering about that. Have you ever tried it, what does it display? Thanks, Evan

MChamma, What was the outcome of your case? (I don't see that I can look up another account's cases.) We're looking at setting up a couple foreign entities with USD as the base currency, and I'm curious what manual entries and custom reports would be required. In some cases, we'd need financials in the local currency for…

The role would have whatever access you give it, but presumably the idea is that it wouldn't have the same access as the native Administrator role. As for subsidiary restriction, yes you can restrict subsidiary access by role, though usually I prefer to set the subsidiary on the employee/user record, and then set the role…

Yep, that's the correct, unless you use sales teams.
-
Hi John, Do you know if there's an existing enhancement request for this, or an alternate solution? Thanks for your help. Best, Evan

What are the business or accounting reasons for using temporal? I didn't think it was US GAAP (mind you, I'm not an accountant). As far as implementations, I'd certainly agree there are plenty of bad ones out there. I think this is partly a function if NetSuite being relatively young--new space, evolving software, etc. Evan

Hi jhouse, Thanks for the input. That makes sense. It's different from how we operate. We keep cash balances in the currencies we operate in, usually for each of our major subs (e.g. we have separate USD, GBP and EUR cash accounts for multiple subs, and also have accounts in other currencies for particular subs). To my…

Hi Jamie, This is for vendor payments for us. We still do our intercompany elimination manually. Turning it on is on my projects list, but it hasn't made it to the top yet. I'd be curious to hear what parts of it work really well and what parts are challenging for you. Thanks, Evan

Drop-ship is for scenarios where the inventory is going straight from your supplier's warehouse to your customer--you never receive it into inventory. If you're ordering based on customer orders, but receiving it yourself, and then shipping to your customer yourself, you want to set your items up as Special Order. As for…
-
I don't understand your question. What do you mean by a multiple location order? Is this your customer's location(s) or your warehouses? Are we talking drop-ship, special order, or regular inventory? Standardly, a PO will only have one Ship-To. There's no functionality for defining Ship-To by line item. Typically you'd…

Yep, you're correct: once the currency has been set it can't be changed--even if no transactions have posted. I believe part of the reason for this is that selecting a country/base currency for a sub actually selects the version of NetSuite for that sub. If you need to change the base currency of the sub down the road,…

I believe there's a custom read-only full access role available as a bundle that saves you having to build it from scratch. I haven't installed it myself, but try searching the repository and see what comes up.

I found the definitions I was looking for: Transaction Exchange Rate -- rate of the foreign currency to the base currency on the date of the transaction Ending Exchange Rate -- rate of the foreign currency to the base currency as of the last day of the selected period That's what I expected. The answer I discovered is that…

Nope, nothing out of the box. Just making sure I understand: are you saying when you go to Create Rev Rec journals, the Project Name doesn't always show up?
-
Hi Mel, I can't speak to the heart of your question, implementing it within an e-commerce environment. For what's it worth, the rest of the implementation really is a breeze (AvaTax set-up, NetSuite config), and Avalara's professional services organization is THE BEST vendor PS team I've ever worked with. Seriously. It's…

Do you mean a new instance of NetSuite? A new user login? In any case, yes, reach out to your sales rep. Evan
-
Scsie - my understanding is it's not supposed to. To create an "Admin" role that can access via mobile, you need to create a custom Admin role, basically giving a custom roll Full of everything. Evan
-
Corey - You may not have Global Permissions enabled. Got to set-up and enable it, and you'll then by able to assign cross-role permissions on the employee record. Malin - Why the Admin access weirdness? It's going to mean creating a custom "Mobile Access Admin" role, that will have to be maintained. Global Permissions…

We use a custom field. When a record is rejected the value in that field is included in an email sent to the submitter. We don't make it required, though you could do so with an action in the workflow.
-
Have you tried changing the Trigger Type to After Submit?
-
Saved search is a good suggestion, you can also set it to send email alerts. If you don't need more than alerts, that's all you need. If you'd like to do more, e.g. close the order, etc., then you could use the saved search to trigger the workflow. Evan

Annoyingly the native Approve button isn't available for selection in the button drop-down. I did figure this out with help from NetSuite support: Transition on Before Record Load Condition: Approve=T I'd tried this before, but we have two "Approved" fields, one native, the other custom. I'd been using the wrong one (!!!).
-
You should be able to do 1) by setting the workflow context to User Interface. You want to trigger on Before Record load, within the context of User Interface. I haven't tested this, but I don't see why it wouldn't work--unless the Lock Record action executes across all contexts, regards of context settings on the workflow…

I mean, it's unlikely a user would pick an incorrect currency just because he can, right? Heh, heh. Of course not.
