Importing Opportunities

I have converted a csv file of opportunities to smbxml and have attempted to import them. I have a couple of problems however. First, the response file keeps telling me successful for a particular record, but when I look in the system it is not there. Second, the file errors on some records because it says that the the projected amount is incorrect. It must be greater then the low range and less than the high range. There is no way to actually import the low or high range. So I am in a quandary. Any help out there?
