Item Last Modified Date is always 2:48am ???

I am exporting items to update a database and I only need to update the items that have changed. But when exporting the items csv, the Last Modified Date column shows most items were updated at 2:48am. I know the data I need hasn't changed in many of these records, such as pricing, quantities, and text fields. So what is being updated at that time and how can I get the items get around it?
