ODBC Excel recommendations

Can anyone recommend a way to use SQL to get Netsuite data into Excel 2007? The Microsoft Query along with the NS ODBC driver seems to have limited capabilities.

My ultimate goal is to replicate existing reports in Netsuite with SQL and to be able to pass date ranges to the SQL statement to limit the data that is retrieved.
