Importing matrix items should be simple! Why? How?

I have been trying to import matrix items for weeks now.  I keep getting errors.  I have searched the Netsuite "Help" documentation, I have searched this forum, and I have got some little help from Netsuite Support but I just can't get it to work!

I have about 20 different surfboard bags in different lengths that I need to import and I don't want to have to enter them in Netsuite one by one.  Can I import them all at once?  Is there a sample matrix import file out there that I can copy off?  Can I send someone my file to look at and tell me what I am doing wrong?  How can I get this to work?  This seems like it would be something that everyone would need, why is it so difficult!?
