Customer Import from Contacts ????

I am sooo confused right now with how relationship is structured in Netsuite.

I have around 2000 contacts that need to be converted as customers.

How do i do this? I was thinking of doing mass update but I couldn't seem to find the option to do this.

Is the only way for me to have 2000 contacts converted as customers is via import and export?
