Custom Field...sourced from related trans

This probably isn't as difficult as I'm making it, at least I hope not.  We've had several customer requests for a common link (info) between the packing list and invoice (for matching purposes).  Our Packing List shows the "Item Fulfullment No" on it and I'd like for that same number to appear on the invoice generated from that document in a custom field called "Shipment No.".

Any suggestions?
