Rertieving value of attibutes from CUSTOM RECORDS

Hi All straight from Australia. I hope you can help me with the following.
I did try to get help from Micros Australia but even though they tried very hard could not help me.
So:
I created a custom record that stores Membership card number for each of our customers (we call them members). One customer can have more than one card but each card must be different and have 16 digits (netsuite type: Free-Form Text [could not be long integer as i can not have 16 digits numbers in netsuite]).
Problem:
When next card is entered for any of our members i must validate if this card number already exists. I am doing it through ServerScripting as follows below.
