Multiple Contacts for an Individual Customer?

Is there anyway to have additional contacts for a customer identified as an Individual and not a Company. For example, just as I can add employees under a Company Customer record, why can't I add a spouse to an Individual customer record? Is there any way to do this? Thanks in advance.
