Limit drop-down list by selected value

I have heard this question before, but I'm not sure if/when this functionality is/will be available.

We would like to show only certain drop-down values according to the current selected drop-down values.  It doesn't seem like this is possible through JavaScript because the lists are not created with html.

Does anyone have any ideas, or will this be officially supported by NetSuite?
