How to disable "SAVE" button

Hi,

I would like to disable the "SAVE" button for a sales order transaction. If I customize my own set of button, we can use the

"document.getElementById("buttonID").disabled=true;"

However, when it comes to the "SAVE" button, it does not work

Can anyone help?
