Creating Life Cycle Automation in NS?

I was wondering about this.   Someone told me it could not be done and I said huh?  There must be a way.

I would like to be able to automatically generate a email that goes out to a customer at the anniversary (30-60 day prior) of a purchase (invoice date) reminding them about it and to see if they want to reconnect about doing the same order this time around.

I know you can generate a reminder on the dashboard but I want to go beyond that and automate it--life cycle automation.  A supe-platform like NS should have this capability.
