Center Tabs and Saved Searches

I created a custom tab and then I created a saved search.  When I put the saved search on the custom tab via a "list" portlet, it only shows the first three columns and they are not direct list editable.  If I put the saved search on the home page via  a "list" portlet, it shows all the columns and it is direct list editable.  Has anyone else ran into this?
