Alt. Email field won't display

I moved the Alt. Email field to "Main" in a custom view, and "Show" is checked.

No matter what I do, it doesn't display the field in the custom form.

Weirdly, I can check it's "insert column break" checkbox and that causes a column break where it should display - but it is still invisible.
