Auto generate bill tran number

Hi,

In NetSuite 2008.2, there are still some transactions that do not support auto-generation of transaction number such as Bills. This is something that we really need, since built-in control in transaction numbering is very important to us and our company heavily used buy side transactions (Purchase order-Bills - Payment).

We have already filed an enhancement for this. However, because of the urgency of the situation, we are thinking of customizing this functionality.

But what would be the best way to do this? Also if ever NetSuite released this enhancement, will there be an effect on the existing generated transaction numbers?
