Reference a custom field value

I have created a custom field for a document to be attached to a sales order on the "main" tab.  That same document attached to the sales order needs to be referenced (shown) on the P.O. that is created from the sales order.

I thought it could be handled through a new custom transaction body field and using "Sourcing & Filtering" but I was incorrect.

Any help is appreciated.
