custom field that calculates sales orders

Hi there I had a question to anyone that has the time.
I would like to create a custom field that uses a formula to create a count on sales orders greater than 2 by customers.  It sounds like an sql statement in the formula field but I am a novice programmer. 

i have tried in the formula field

{transaction.SalesOrd}.   then below make set it to greater than 2 but it does not recognize this.  I think its a syntax error.

I have tried nlapi search record but again i am a novice at this  so this is what I had and this didnt work. .  .(nlapiSearchRecord({transaction.SalesOrd})
