Providing HTTP(S) download of custom field content

I have a custom field whose contents need to be downloadable as a file. The customer center should simply have a link which would grab the field content and send the necessary HTTP headers to make the browser prompt to save a file.

Does server-side SuiteScript provide this sort of control over the HTTP headers? PHP is my second choice--I've done this precise thing several times via the PHP header() function.
