EDI trouble

We are having trouble with some of our EDI integration.  We are attempting to send our purchase orders over to one of our vendors via edi.  A basic inventory item can be sent but a matrix item cannot.  Our service provider says

"Matrix: Not currently in our product integration based on how data is exposed for all parent/child relationships (includes Item Groups, Kit/Packages, and Matrix items).  Our product management group is working directly with Netsuite's to construct better behavior in the way the data gets exposed" 

but they have been saying this for a year and a half.  Does anyone have any advice for me on this subject?
