Access first file attached to custom record

Hi,

I'm writing a script that grabs various data from a custom record.  One of the things I'd like to access is the first file attached to the custom record.  The file I need is always the first one and always an image.  The only problem is, I don't know the id of the file, since every custom record is going to have a different one.

Any ideas?
