How can I make Item codes show on printed forms?

Hi,

We use the 'Name' field for our product code and the 'display name' for the actual name of the product. I have been trying to produce printed forms (everything from estimates, sales confirmations, invoices etc) that show the product code in one column and the display name in another column. I thought that this would be a simple matter of selecting the column fields to print in 'customise forms' however no matter what combination of fields I select to print, I cannot get the product code to show on any forms.

I have tried with both the 'show display name with item codes' preference enabled and disabled in 'General Preferences' and this does not solve the issue.
