workflow to hide sales order button on estimate

Hi
How do I go about hiding the sales order button on a estimate record except if a person belongs to a certain role?

For example I want only the MD or Sales Director to be able to create a sales order.

Also as a side question I have managed to hide the invoices and cash sales button but they do not hide consistently. Is this a regular "feature" (bug)?
