Multiselect Popup in Suitelet

I would like to add a multiselect field to my suitelet that can open a small dialog, allowing the user to visually select and deselect options in the dialog.  I've seen this kind of functionality in native fields, and I'm wondering if I can build it into my suitelet.

By looking at the field objects in the console it appears that these fields have a property called popup that is set to true.  However, I can't set that property in my code.
