Sourcing date field from a custom record

For some reason, I cannot get this field to source.

I am trying to source a date field FROM a custom item record, and place it on a non-inventory record.

The field on the custom record is set to store value, and is the date type.

The field on the non-inventory record is set to not store the value, and is also the date type.

Any idea what could be going wrong?

PS - I have also made sure the 'source list' and 'source from' fields are properly selected.
