Report of items sold when item is included in Kits

I want to get a report of all of a particular item sold, including those in kits. 
If I run a Sales by Item Detail report on the item it does not include those sold as part of a kit (seems to me like it should).  They are sold individually also with kits.  Is there a way to get this info with one report?  (as opposed to the option of running the report for the item, then running the report for each kit and totalling them up)
