Best way to extract data without timing out

We have a sql script that pulls the fields we need and have narrowed it down by accounting period.   The data is for an income statement where you can drill down to the info.  However, in DAFT, excel queries,reporting services and crystal it times out.  Has anyone found a work around?

What I would like to do is download the data each am into a server database, truncating the previous days old data. This way I could pull it without the system timing out during the day.  Has anyone done this?

We are looking at Webservices.
