How to sort Customer Search based on sales amount

Can anyone help me with a formula that would allow a customer search to be sorted by the last 180 days (6 months) of total sales?  I would like the customers with the most sales at the top of the results.

This is for a store locator we are implementing on our site.

I have also filed a case with support on this - Case # is 828956
