Line Item System Change

Our line items in a sales order can ship on different dates.  We created a custom field to handle this.  I need to send an alert to the sales rep when the line ship date changes.

I can pull the data in a saved search that shows old value and new value but this does not help me.  I need a method to send the alert that a ship date has changed.

Any help is appreciated.
