Balance Sheet Acct in Cash Basis

I need to be able to run a report for a balance sheet account (e.g. an inventory account) to show how much we have paid towards this account in a given time.  It needs to be in cash basis.   

I am having trouble figuring out and would very much appreciate some assistance.
