Mass Update with Formulas

Isn't it possible to use a mass update to populate a custom field (Store Value checked) with formulas?

When I previewed my mass update, the New Value column showed correctly. However, when I ran the mass update, nothing happened - all my fields are still blank.

Is this a bug?
