Availability of item fields from sales report

There is a sales based report that I would like to add columns/fields taken from the items file. Under sales folder I can see all the transaction fields and below folders for related files, items included. When I open the Items sub folder I can see many of the item fields but not all. Specifically, the field I am looking for is class. Just nowhere to be found.

Why some of the fields are available while others are not?
Is there any way I can pull class field from items file into a sales based report?
