Saved Search to Summarize Email Activity

Looking to summarized email activity inbound/outbound by rep.  A sales manager wants to review emails to make sure language is appropriate and/or on message.

Couldn't find email as a record I could search on - does anyone know the right data type I should be using?  I tried employee, but that didn't really work when looking at the joined message table.
