Slow Custom Financial Reports

Does anyone else have trouble getting custom financial reports to run?  Our P&L and budget to actual reports are taking 3+ hours to run in the background, the UI times out.  We do have some breakout of revenue by customers and re-arrange some expense accounts to roll up, but it's approaching becoming unusable.  Does anyone else have/had this issue and have suggestions on resolution?
