Saved search with date range

I am working on a vendor saved search. Would like to extract bill payment dates that are within today and the last six months under the results > Column tab.

Currently have this in the formula field:

case when {postingperiod} ='Nov 2012' then {amount} else 0 end

Looking for sql expression that would make the date dynamic.

Any ideas?
