Display Board/Message Board to Display on public screen in the office

I have been asked if it would be possible to setup a computer screen/tv in the office and have certain KPI's, Trends, Seaches, etc. showing on the screen with real-time data. I was thinking if we utilized a full license for this and just created a nice dashboard to show the wanted info the session would time out and you'd have to manually update the portals every so often. I have also thought about doing some sort of web query to show the data using Excel charts and Graphs. But not sure that would be the best solution either.
