Reports 'Alert Me When Ready' No longer an option

I have a report that takes quite a bit of time to load, so normally our user will select 'Alert me when ready' option while the report is loading.
All of a sudden this option is no longer there for the user.  It shows for me (admin) but not fir him.

Anyone have any idea what is happening?
