Integration Units

What are the integration unit costs associated with different operations?  For adds, it has been counting as 3 integration units.  Is this the same for all objects, and does it matter if it is a list or not?

Also, does anybody know if integration units are a per-month limit or a per-year limit?

Looking in the PDF's does't give much detail on the specifics of how the integration units are used.  Thanks for any answers.
