Permission Violation using Customer Centre Role

I using Web Services to create a Sales Order using a Customers User ID and Password. The Customer has a Customer Centre role.

When I search for the item to get the Internal ID to add to the Sales Order I get the error "Permission Violation: You need the 'Lists -> Items' permission to access this page", but it is not possible to add Lists > Items to a Customer Centre Role.

Is it not possible to use a Customers credentials to add a Sales Order using Web Services?
