Slow web service response

Since we were upgraded to 2007, I've noticed that calls to web service methods (I'm still using the 2_5_0 wsdl) are taking significantly longer than before. For example, a single update for a customer record is taking about 25 seconds, whereas before it would take maybe 10 seconds. Has anyone else noticed this?
