Searching for Transactions Using Item Name

I am trying to find, given an inventory item name, the transactions involving that item. Currently I attempt to perform an ItemSearch using the itemName so that I can then extract the internalId from the InventoryItem. This part works, but when I then use the internalId in an itemJoin within a TransactionSearch, it fails to return any records even though the data on the NetSuite website indicates it should. What am I doing wrong?

p.s. I'm currently not putting in any data for itemNumber on my application UI, so its always empty entering the function, but I check for this.
