Get record by externalId

edited Dec 2, 2019 3:10PM in SuiteCloud / Customization 4 comments

I'm trying to retrieve customer records by their externalIds and I'm having problems with this.  I'm not exactly sure what constitutes an externalId.  On the Customer list view the ID column shows a number (I have auto generated); however in the details view, the Customer Id is number + name, for example "243 Mesa Ranch".   When I try to retrieve this record via web services and using 'setExternalId' call, I keep getting the following error:

ERROR: [Code=INVALID_KEY_OR_REF] The specified key is invalid.

I tried supplying the number alone '243', name 'Mesa Ranch' and combination of both '243 Mesa Ranch' and all three cases received error.  The version I'm using is 2_6_0.

Howdy, Stranger!
