Revenue Recognition through web services

Any help would be appreciated...
revenue recognition template displayed within the netsuite ui with values- No issues we are successful through webservices

However, we have numerous items that by default do  not have the deferred revenue account and revenue recognition template values populated on the item.

What we would like to do is be able to pass those values through webservices but not be dependent on the  item's deferred revenue account and revenue recognition template to be populated with predetermined data. Is that possible? We were trying to pass  the deferred revenue account and revenue recognition template through web services and were getting errors
